Un nouveau Sphingidae du genre Xylophanes Hübner, 1819: Xylophanes huloti sp. n. (Lepidoptera, Sphingidae) Jean Haxaire 1 et Thierry Vaglia 2, Pages 29-38, Published: 15 May 2008

Abstract

A new species of Xylophanes from Ecuador, collected by the first author, is described: Xylophanes huloti sp. n. It is compared to the allied species, Xylophanes rhodochlora (Rothschild et Jordan, 1903). Genetic analysis (barcoded COI gene) confirms the validity of the new species. Xylophanes virescens (Butler, 1875), treated since 1903 as a junior synonym of Xylophanes crotonis (Walker, 1856) is reinstated as a species and the lectotype designated.
