Abstract

The capture of three specimens of the Afrotropical hawkmoth, Euchloron megaera (Linnaeus, 1758) from the Republic of Yemen is reported. These moths display a significantly different appearance from those of the nominotypical subspecies found on the African continent and are considered to represent a new Asian subspecies, herein described as E. megaera asiatica n. ssp.

Deux nouvelles espèce de Sphinx brésiliens (Lepidoptera, Sphingidae) Jean Haxaire, Pages 7-17, Published: 15 October 2009

Abstract

Two new species of Sphingidae from Brazil are described, one in the genus Xylophanes Hübner, 1819, from the state of Rondônia, and the other in the genus Nyceryx Boisduval, 1875, from the state of Maranhão. The habitus of these two species is illustrated, and also the biotopes in which they were captured.

A new species of the Indo-Australian genus Coscinocera Butler, 1879 (Lepidoptera, Saturniidae) Stefan Naumann, Pages 19-28, Published: 15 October 2009

Abstract

A new species of the genus Coscinocera Butler, 1879, which contains the world's largest Saturniidae, is described from Obi Island, Indonesia: Coscinocera jakli n. sp., named after its first collector. The male holotype from the author's collection will be deposited in Museum für Naturkunde der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The holotype, together with its genital structures, and the female allotype are figured in colour and compared with related taxa.

Eine neue Ambulyx Westwood, 1847 - Art von der indonesischen Insel Obi (Lepidoptera, Sphingidae) Ulf Eitschberger 1 & Tomás¹ Melichar 2, Pages 29-48, Published: 15 October 2009

Abstract

From the Indonesian island Obi, located in the north of Seram, Ambulyx marissa sp. nov. is described, and compared with the closely related Ambulyx charlesi (Clark, 1924), flying in Seram. The genitalia of both sexes of the new species are compared with Ambulyx staudingeri Rothschild, 1894 (from in the Philippine Islands) and Ambulyx tenimberi (Clark, 1929) inhabiting Sulawesi.
