Artificial hybridiyation between Anisota finlaysoni from Ontario and Anisota discolor from Texas (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) Alejandro A. Balboa & Richard S. Peigler, Pages 121-131, Published: 23 March 2011

Abstract

A successful cross was reared between a male of Anisota discolor and a female of Anisota finlaysoni. The first three larval stages resembled those of A. finlaysoni, but the last two were remarkably intermediate in coloration and pattern. A total of 166 eggs hatched from the 194 that were laid, and 96 pupae were obtained. Only eight adult moths emerged (5 males, and 3 females) - all others died as pupae.
