Description d’un nouveau Sphingidae du genre Gnathothlibus Wallengren, 1858 des Philippines : Gnathothlibus melichari sp. n. (Lepidoptera, Sphingidae) Jean Haxaire, Pages 79-89, Published: 27 June 2016

Abstract

A new species of the sphingid genus Gnathothlibus is described from the islands of the Philippines. The new species is related to Gnathothlibus erotus (Cramer, 1777) but is easily separated from that species by several habitus characters as well as features of the male genitalia. Genetic analysis of the DNA barcode region of the mitochondrial gene, cytochrome oxidase I confirmed the distinctness of the two species. The habitus of both sexes, together with the male genitalia, are illustrated.
